Use these handy checklists to get your 2018 ACA reporting on track.
What You Should Be Doing NOW
- Have an in-place system to stay abreast of the latest developments in ACA regulations (now and ongoing)
- Continue tracking part-time and variable hour employees (through December 31, 2018)
- Review/respond to any Marketplace Subsidy letters or IRS Letter 226 J
- Prepare for 2018 ACA Reporting (see Preparing for 2018 ACA Reporting list)
Preparing for 2018 ACA Reporting
- Identify all full-time and full-time equivalent employees as defined by ACA (January through December, 2018)
- Make sure those who qualify are offered coverage (during your open enrollment) or after the employee has completed his/her individual measurement period
- Document the offer of coverage (during your open enrollment) or after the employee has completed his/her individual measurement period
- Secure a waiver for those who decline coverage (during your open enrollment) or after the employee has completed his/her individual measurement period
- Know all IRS deadlines for 2018 reporting
- Begin reviewing employee data, pre-validating accuracy to avoid costly errors (now)
- Know how your coverage is defined by ACA (does it meet minimum essential coverage and is it affordable?)
